This past Friday, the Friends of the Winston County Library hosted a local poet/writer who has ties to Louisville and Winston County, Rev. Allen Baswell. Baswell resides in Choctaw County and is the pastor of Bear Creek Baptist Church in McCool. However, he is well known at the Winston County Library, as he makes his way there each Wednesday to work on his sermons.
Baswell has recently published his first book, “Mississippi Musings,” which is a collection of 50 poems, all of which have a connection to Mississippi in some way and fall into several different categories, including history, spiritual, romance, and others. At the event, he read 10 selections from “Mississippi Musings” before a book signing session. The event was well attended by local Winston Countians and friends from Choctaw County as well.
