Friends of Dean Park, Inc. (FODP) met on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, and made plans to open the Center Hill Farmers Market in late May or early June. The consensus was loud and clear,"Let's do it again!”
A date will be announced in this journal as soon as the specific date is set.
Last year was the first opening of this new Market. It was successful through the fall. Alonzo Miller, chairperson of the market committee, emphasized, that the Market needs more vendors. FODP is asking residents to call if they would like to become a vendor. The time is now to start planting vegetables for Spring and Summer. There are several former master gardeners who may help you get a garden planted. Vendors can just grow one item, e.g., okra, zucchini, squash, peppers, green onions, flowers, etc.
It was decided that on opening day, the market would be accepting produce as well as value added item (canned foods), nuts, fruit, crafts, and flea market items. The fee will be $10. per vendor to help pay for the expense of water and electricity. To contact for further information: 510.672-2106 or 662-705-0500.
