On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the City of Louisville’s Board of Aldermen held its second meeting for the month. One of the top priorities was the discussion of improvements to the airport. Wings over Winston will be held there on October 14, so many projects are underway ahead of the event.
Last month, the Aldermen heard updates on clearing the area around the airport, which will take place later this year. At Tuesday’s meeting, the Aldermen acknowledged monies utilized from a BIL grant to provide for “clearing, earthwork, drainage, and fencing” as well as “Reconstruct(ing) Hangar D.” Monies from an AIP grant were utilized for paying for the clearing and earthwork done. An acknowledgement was also heard regarding “the renovation of 2 Tee Hangar Units and Rehab of West Ramp.” The board voted to authorize the mayor to sign all paperwork concerning this project.
