The annual National Day of Prayer is an occasion for all Americans to gather and pray to God on behalf of their neighbors and community.
French Camp will hosts its annual National Day of Prayer event on Thurdsay, May 5 at 7 a.m. in the French Camp Town Hall.
The 2022 theme stands as an invitation and call to worship: “Exalt the Lord Who has Established Us” having been inspired from the theme verse, Colossians 2:6-7 NASB “Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”
“Our praise of His unchanging attributes and remembrance of His blessings has helped Americans remain steadfast in faith even through the most challenging of times,” said National Day of Prayer Task Force President, Kathy Branzell.
These expressions of thanksgiving will be carried out in all 50 states and several U.S. territories through tens of thousands of local prayer gatherings on the National Day of Prayer, Thursday May 5.
The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
