The family of the late Julia Florene Bright Downs, Class of 1940, recently contacted the Eupora High School Alumni Association regarding a visit to the school that their mother had attended in the 1940s.
Dr. Cleamon R. Downs of Pascagoula and his sister, Julia Sharon Downs of Orlando, Florida, paid a visit to Eupora recently. While in Eupora, they also paid a visit to the West Shady Grove Cemetery, where their mother and other relatives are buried.
During their visit to see all the memorabilia in the Alumni Room, they presented the Alumni Association with several of the items they had saved from their mother. Included in this gift were a 1940 diploma, several photos of the class of 1940, as well as the class ring worn by their mother. These items will be appropriately marked and displayed in the Alumni Room.
It is gifts like these that keep adding to the memorabilia collection in the Alumni Room at EHS. We are appreciative of these gifts.
