Faith. Hope. Believe! Those were the chants heard as residents and staff from Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation and HOSA members from Choctaw County Career and Technical Center paraded through Ackerman Friday morning.
The parade was led by Chief Tim Cook and a sea of pink was seen as the most seasoned Choctaw County residents rolled down North Louisville smiling and waving.
Residents were able to enjoy the company of the students and enjoy the day out as they celebrated breast cancer awareness. Each carried signs with slogans and bible verses such as “Save the Tatas,” “Keep Calm and Fight On,” “She is clothed in strength and dignity. Her children shall rise up and call her blessed.”
The parade began on East Cherry and turned down North Louisville and onto Main Street before stopping at the pavilion for a balloon release and treats with Halcyon Hospice.
Before the balloon release, workers with Halcyon Hospice gave a short presentation on why we celebrate Breast Cancer Month in October and the significance of the pink ribbon.
After the presentation, the nursing home recognized their residents who had battled breast cancer and have won, and a balloon release was held following.
