Weir Elementary FACE Center

The Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Center at Weir Elementary School is open every Monday and Thursday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. If you or your child need help, the FACE Center has resources available. Weir Library new hours
Weekly
The Weir Library will have new hours beginning this month. The new hours will be 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Mondays and 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesdays. Weir Lego Club will be Monday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 and Silver Social Club will be on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Full Circle Club

Choctaw County Extension’s Full Circle Club meets every Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. until noon, at the MSU Extension Service Choctaw County office in Ackerman. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join - beginner, intermediate, or novice. The group also meets every other month for a book discussion. For more information, contact the Choctaw County Extension Office at 662-285-6337. The group is in need of yarn if anyone would like to donate some for a worthy cause.

Mount Nebo Church to hold gospel signing

Kindergarten Registration
March 18-28
All area elementary schools will hold its kindergarten registration for students who will be entering the 2024-2025 school year. Ackerman Elementary’s will be held March 18 through March 28, Weir Elementary’s will be held March 20 through March 27. Must have a completed school packet, which can be picked up at one of the elementary schools or printed off, two forms of residency must be February and March bills, birth certificates and shot records. For questions, contact the respective schools.
Choctaw Democratic Party County Convention
March 23
The Choctaw County Democratic Party will have its county convention at the Choctaw County Courthouse in Ackerman on Saturday March 23 at 10 AM. Delegates from last month's county precinct caucuses will meet to elect the next county executive committee. Delegates and alternates to the district 1 party convention will be selected, and attendees will review and recommend platform resolutions as well.
Town of French Camp holds Easter Celebration

The Town of French Camp will celebrate the Easter holiday on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a free petting zoo at French Camp Trading Post from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., free pictures with the Easter bunny from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., a free Easter egg hunt with other 1,500 eggs at 2 p.m. Children will also hear the Easter story at French Camp Baptist while the egs are being hidden. There will be prizes immediately following. At 4 p.m., there will be an egg hunt for teens and adults and prizes will be given out at 4:30 p.m. There will be a food truck at French Camp Trading Post and Build-a-Bestie at Barlow Blue.
Power in Pink to hold Benefit Program

Power in Pink will hold a benefit program for Rev. Sammie and Roma Barksdale, on behalf of their daughter, Stephanie, on March 30 at 6 p.m. at Reform Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

There will be a beginning computer class for adults on the first and third Friday of every month at 3 p.m. There are 10 spots available. Call the library to reserve a spot.
