The Eupora Chainsaws & Art Festival is underway at Spud Stennett Park through Saturday, Aug. 12.
The inaugural event organized by Eupora Economic Development started Wednesday. Nine chainsaw carvers were scheduled to compete in the chainsaw carving competition.
They are continuing to work on their masterpiece carvings all day today and will be finishing up Saturday. Festivalgoers may vote from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday for their favorite masterpiece.
The artists can be supported by exploring their booths, where sculptures are available for purchase. Their booths are open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday. Sculptures from quick-carve competitions are also available for purchase today and Saturday to those who have registered to bid as a buyer before auction.
The festival includes something for everyone to enjoy, including food vendors, bouncy houses, face painting, and various wood and craft vendors. The Mississippi State “Wood Magic Science Fair” exhibit educates people about the importance of wood and wood products.
Entry is free; Spud Stennett Park is located at 185 Spud Stennett Drive. The festival schedule may be viewed at euporaed.com.
