Virginia Carlisle's 1997 "Ye Ole Scrapbook: A Portrait of Choctaw County Before the World Changed" is once again being made available for those interested in purchasing a copy of this extensive anthology written to preserve Choctaw County’s heritage. The book contains newspaper clippings, photographs, letters, obituaries and much more, most of which were used in Virginia's "News of Yesteryear" and "Ye Olde Scrapbook" columns compiled for the Choctaw Plaindealer for over 15 years. Also included are many of Virigina's insightful poems and a 37-page index compiled by Margie Gilmer, local historian. It makes a great Christmas gift for those who love local history!
Due to increased printing cost, the book is now $65. If interested in placing an order in time for Christmas, contact Mary Nell Coblentz by December 18. (marynellcoblentz@gmail.com or 662-547-6520 and leave a message).
