The Choctaw County School District held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 13 in the Central office.
During the meeting, the board heard from Anthony McGee about the progress of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) projects at Weir Elementary and the Choctaw County High School. McGee said the biggest change order came from the HVAC project at Weir Elementary. He said the change order at Weir Elementary because a retainer wall had to be built.
He said there was a $5,000 change order at Choctaw County High School. He said they had to raise the lighting up because it was causing shadows.
McGee said there also had to be tile work done at Weir. He said the district budget $55,000 and there were contingencies in the budget. McGee said the district should be $14,000 coming back to them.
In other news, the board:
Accepted the resignations of Sue Tarver and Regina Weeks, Tarver is currently the choral director at CCHS and Weeks is the assistant choral director.
Accepted the resignation of Bobby Eiland as a substitute.
Approved to void the contract of Virginia Bruce and issue a new one, based on a new start date.
Approved Ashley Williams as a special education bus aide and Mary Huffman as an assistant.
Approved a salary reduction for Linda Anderson.
Approved to add Miranda Worrell as a substitute bus driver for the 2022-2023 school year.
Approved to accept a bid from Acy Mechanical of Winona on a ESSER 3 Rebid project.
Approved to renew for another year with Apptegy, the software the district uses for its app
Approved travel for Glen Blaine, Maureen Power, Janna Chamblee, Maggie Wehr, Bill Johnson, Jim Wood, Jackey Miller, Kim Maxwell, and Kasie Baxter.
Approved field trips for FCE, AES, HOSA and College and Career Readiness.
Approved for T.R. Callahan and Son Paint Contractors to paint the exterior of the CCHS “A” Building.
Approved a contract with Austin’s Lawn Care, LLC to provide lawn maintenance for 2023.
Approved donations from Mississippi Lignite Mining and Bethsalem Missionary Baptist Church.
Approved a 2023 Education Enhancement Equipment Grant allocation in the amount of $23,000 for the CCCTC to purchase equipment for the Health Care programs.
Approved to add Jeanne Bruce to the list of employees who can take their bus home.
Approved a contract with Tate’s Turf for 2023 herbicide spraying.
Approved for Performance Based Education Company, Inc. to provide data management and individualized students plans for the district.
Approved to decline the highest bid for 16-18-11 in Reform.
