The School Board has denied a request for a program conversion at the Webster County Career and Technology Center.
Josh Alford, director of the center, addressed the board about the matter on March 18, according to minutes of that meeting. Alford recommended that the Teacher Academy (Educator Preparation) program at WCCTC be replaced by a Law and Public Safety program for the upcoming school year because of the small number of students enrolled in the Teacher Academy program.
After some discussion, President Marilynn Brown called for a motion. Daniel Bingham (District 1) made a motion to approve the request to change programs at WCCTC. After more discussion, the motion died because of the lack of a second, the minutes show.
Additionally, Superintendent James Mason introduced each principal, who then presented awards to the teachers at their schools who received awards for exceptional growth from PREPS (Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools).
East Webster Elementary School was responsible for selecting the Webster County Board of Education Student of the Month for March. Principal Jennifer Carver introduced Will Harper Norman as Student of the Month.
