After the swearing in of the newly elected officials, the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors held their first meeting of 2024 with newly elected District 5 Supervisor Rodney Bowman joining.
The first order of business was nominating a new president and vice president. District 1 Supervisor Joey Stephenson was elected as president and District 4 Supervisor John Shumaker was elected Vice-President.
“I’m thankful for your trust in me and I’ll do it to the best of my ability. This is a group thing, it isn’t just me,” Stephenson said.
The board also appointed Kasey Burney Young to serve as the board attorney for the next four years, and Kevin Null was appointed to serve as the county’s prosecuting attorney.
They also voted to rehire all of their employees at the same rate and pay.
