Joshua Robinson from Noxapater Attendance Center is the Winston County DAR Good Citizen Award Winner
The Nanih Waiya Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution once again sponsored the DAR Good Citizen Program locally. The DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This program honors an outstanding young senior from each of the local schools who best demonstrates the qualities of a good citizen which are dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. The program provides an opportunity for this student to compete with other seniors in the district in the scholarship portion of the program.
Joshua Robinson is this year's scholarship winner. He will be awarded a scholarship for being chosen the Winston County representative this year. Joshua is the son of Angie and Matt Robinson. Each student who entered the scholarship contest was required to write an essay that was judged on the basis of clarity of expression, originality, and historical accuracy. The topic was "Our American Heritage and our Responsibility for Preserving It" with an emphasis on how do the qualities of a good citizen help support our nation?
Joshua is now eligible for awards beyond the chapter level. Congratulations to Joshua and best wishes on his future endeavors.
