An Ackerman man was arrested and has been since released after he and two of his neighbors got into an argument over a dog.
Kirsten Kent, 26, has been arrested and charged two counts of discharging a weapon in city limits, animal cruelty and aggravated assault.
Chief Tim Cook said the incident happened Sunday, Oct. 15 on Dobbs Road. He said officers were called to the home because Kent shot a dog in his neighbor’s yard. He said the shot splattered blood all over his neighbor’s car, which lead to an argument between Kent and two of his neighbors. Chief Tim Cook said the dog belonged to one Kent’s neighbors.
Cook said during the argument, Kent shot at the ground toward his neighbor’s feet and the bullet ricocheted and hit Kent’s neighbor in the leg.
He said Kent’s charge of animal cruelty may be upgraded to a felony charge because the dog has since passed.
Kent’s bond was set at $6,500 and he has since bonded out. His initial appearance will be on Oct. 25 in Ackerman Municipal Court.
