The Trojan ‘Blue’ Wall was unveiled on July 30 with 1,309 alumni and 156 teachers listed. Dr. Connie Hathorn was the chairperson of the committee that coordinated the historical event.
Sponsored by the Trojans 4 Life Alumni, the purpose of the project is to preserve the legacy of the schools and their Trojan mascot. The schools include Winston County Training School, Louisville Negro High School, Louisville Colored High School, and Camile Street High School. Even though all the schools were called a high school, this includes elementary and junior high.
Since the unveiling, many other alumni have become aware of the project and want the opportunity to add their name to the wall. Dr. Hathorn announced last week that “Due to numerous inquiries regarding placing additional names on the Blue Wall, the committee decided to take orders for names again. The deadline for submitting names is Nov. 1, 2022.”
Anyone who attended one of the above-mentioned schools, before full integration, can have their names placed on the wall. For example, you can buy a “name space” for yourself or honor or remember someone else. According to Dr. Hathorn, “Even if you did not graduate, regardless of the reason, you can have your name placed on the wall. You were a Trojan and will always be a Trojan.”
Each name space will cost $20, and there is no limit to the number of name spaces that can be purchased. Persons can pay with a money order, a cashier’s check, PayPal or with cash locally. Payments can be made payable to Trojans 4 Life Alumni and mailed to Doris Triplett Jernigan, 362 Mt. Olive Road, Louisville, MS 39339 or Janice Hopkins, 7890 Enon Road, Louisville, MS 39339
