MABEN — Sometime late Thursday night, July 28, or in the early hours on Friday, July 29, a mailbox was knocked off the post on Mississippi Highway 15 or First Avenue.
In looking at the mailbox, which was found lying on the side of the highway, and the post, it appears this was not done by an automobile. Rather, it was jerked off the post and bent, then thrown on the side of the highway.
This happened in just a little over a year after a large group of interested citizens of Maben went to a meeting of the Maben mayor and board to suggest and ask that a Neighborhood Watch be started.
This request to the mayor and board, like so many others, fell on deaf ears.
