If you want to know at least one thing I am very thankful for it is this: our newly re-opened library is rocking!!! The staff is brill and they are open to serving so we can grow!
Have you any real idea what's going on? Maybe you haven’t been able to be there. Here are some of the highlights:
If you are over 50years you will love the 9AM meetings on MONDAYS of the SILVER SOCIAL. Folks grab a free coffee and bring their own finger food and then engage in dominoes, skipbo, canasta and general FUN! In fact, one woman’s daughter told our librarian, “my mom plans her whole week around going!”
TUESDAY mornings at 10:30AM is PRESCHOOL STORYTIME. Bring yourself and your little ones.
Also on TUESDAYS AT 3:30PM the STEM Group meets and kids create the most amazing things. In fact, look at this picture…of two cardboard boxes, you say? Well, what will they become for the ACKERMAN CHRISTMAS PARADE on December 8? Bet you can’t guess. The STEM CLUB KIDS some 15-20 meet weekly and are challenged and invite YOU to join them if you are between 8 and 18!
EVERYONE IS INVITED on THURSDAYS at 2:30PM to the LIBRARY MOVIE MATINEE. Free popcorn and the movies are projected onto the wall so there is a big beautiful picture (not a teeny TV!). From now on they will be showing Christmas classics.
Maybe you are more of a reader and so on THURSDAYS at 5PM the TEEN ALLIANCE BOOK CLUB meets reading current novels. Join Lilia and Lilly and discover what the next novel will be.
There are other meetings for health and well-being: NA @ 6PM on Mondays & Wednesdays; AA Tuesdays @ 7PM.
Contact the library staff if you and/or your group want to discuss using library facilities for a meeting.
DECEMBER 13 will be the Christmas Open House and the voting for the Christmas trees artistically created by many groups in town and county. Meet the local authors. Be sure not to miss this!
You know that our new library is full of resources…books, of course and new ones too. But a library is also a place where computers help connect with a job or homework; where library staff can help lead us to new insights and maybe to a new hobby or author. CDs/audiobooks and DVDs bring us joy and a variety of stories.
Tomorrow is I hope y’all enjoyed your Thanksgiving Day where many will joined in prayer (at the jailhouse, for example), for meals, for companionship, and the opportunity to bring others joy. Let’s Did we take the opportunity to share our real love, hope and joy? and For those families who struggle with these ‘get-togethers’ remember how words can cut and hurt and will surely last longer than the turkey dinner.
Gratitude and gratuitousness are gifts that keep on giving…asking nothing for self, nothing in return for genuine thoughtfulness and care. Let us all ask that we deepen our commitment to gratitude and use this yearly opportunity to thank God and those who have helped us and loved us. BLESSINGS.
