EUPORA: Miss Lucy Lawley of Columbus is in town for a visit to Mrs. C. A. Lamb. She has been teaching at Ackerman for the past session. - Mr. Tom Avent of Eupora spent Friday night of last week with his sister, Mrs. Hubbard. - Miss Lou Jarman is in Eupora to spend some time with her sister, Mrs. Douglas.
An unusual attraction will be presented at the Eupora Movie Friday night. Thomas Jefferson in Rep Van Winkle will be presented. Come out and enjoy the fun.

We rejoice with every patriotic man, woman, and child in the county that Webster, not only subscribed her full allotment of Liberty Bonds, but about $15,000 additional.
Last Friday marked the close of the first session of the Webster County Agricultural High School which is to become the greatest factor that we have in the development of the intelligence of our citizens, the wealth and the natural resources of our county to what they should be. The graduating class this year was an unusually large one and representative of the bright boys and girls who will soon put Webster County on the map when they grow up into their heritage of citizenship. The class this year is composed of nineteen young ladies and two young gentlemen.
Three more of our boys left Wednesday to answer the call of Uncle Sam. They were entrained for Camp Sheridan, Montgomery, Ala. Their names are Charlie Irie Peoples, James Victor Box, Fred Grover Simpson.
WALTHALL: Married last Sunday night at the Spikes school house, Mr. J. B. Pepper and Miss Aveda Adams, Rev. J. M. Spikes officiating. The bride is the charming daughter of Mrs. E. F. Spikes and the groom is a prosperous young farmer. - Rev. A. H. Mitchell, who has been very sick for the last few days, is improving. - The little children of M. E. Middleton of Memphis, are spending several days with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Carroll.
EUPORA: Mr. N. C. Eudy has been on the sick list this week. He expects to leave Sunday for Memphis for treatment. - The remains of the small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Talley of Armarillo, Tex., arrived here Sunday and were taken in charge by relatives and laid to rest in North Union Cemetery. - Emmitt Gunter, one of our soldier boys in training at Fort Sill, Okla. is at home of leave on account of a wound received in an accident.
MAY 16, 1918
Mr. Ferney Wood, one of Webster county’s most noble sons, died Sunday. He was briefly ill for about ten days, from pneumonia and pluracy. His last moments were comforted by family and friends. He was a Master Mason and a Woodman of the World, an indulgent father and husband, a kindly and faithful friend, and the best of neighbors. Funeral services were held Monday at Mt. Vernon. He is survived by his wife and seven children, two sisters and five brothers.
