Wow, it has been a long two weeks. It has been so hot and rainy. We have all had so much going on these last several months with sick friends, family members and church members.
It is a sad week after the loss of our sweet and precious Mrs. Karen Griffin, who had fought a good fight and always kept the faith. We know what God has laid up for her. She was so upbeat, sweet and precious even until her last days here on earth.
Even though we will all miss her dearly, we rest assured with the peace of knowing that her faith was strong in God. Sis. Karen no longer has to suffer with cancer in this life, but is dancing and rejoicing at the feet of Jesus.
May I remind you that Paul said to live is Christ and to die is gain. This is what every believer lives for, to finally make it home. Some of us go sooner than later. That’s why I have always declared God’s word. We must be ready and keep our hearts right, just like Karen, for tomorrow is promised to no man.
We are sad, because will we all truly miss precious Karen here at the Fame Church of God. She was a true woman of God who reflected Christ in every way. I believe she touched the lives of all who came in contact with her and her Christlike spirit.
Karen was even faithful to reach out to those who were less fortunate. Her heart was tender toward everyone, especially to those she saw who seemed to have no hope. She truly was a gem. You don’t meet very many like her. As I said before, we will all miss her sweet and kind spirit, her smile and her laugh.
Sis. Karen’s father, Bro. Charles, had passed away not too long before her. At his funeral, my wife noticed something very moving. Although Sis. Karen had been struggling in her health because of her illness, she was the most beautiful woman there that day.
Karen illuminated the room. There was an extraordinary presence round about her. Not only her faithful, loving and caring husband, James, but an unforgettable heavenly presence was with her as well. Looking back we now understand the significance. We will miss her sitting in her special spot at Fame, but we’re so glad and comforted to know she is with her Savior!
Thank you, Lord, for all the time that we all had with her. We look forward to spending eternity with her and all our friends and loved ones in Christ on the other side.
The scripture reminds us that life is like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. Therefore, we must be ready at all times for eternity awaits everyone. We must keep our hearts pure and right with the Lord. Only God knows when our time is up.
Not to mention, it is no secret that we are living in the last days, and it is just about time, one way or another, to be joining our loved ones who have died in Christ.
Jesus is coming soon! We must keep our hearts ready, having a repentant heart, having a forgiving heart. We must work while it is day. Jesus is coming soon, maybe morning, night or noon. Jesus is coming soon.
Please lift Brother James Griffin, Brenda Mason and their families up in prayer during these difficult times. They need our prayers. Please also be in prayer for Mrs. Eva Mae, Clemmie Lou, Mrs. Leneze, Mrs. Linda and Brother Joseph. They all need a special touch from the Lord.
Also say a prayer for our little church. So many have lost loved ones over the past four years. During these times it can be quite overwhelming. Everyone is so close it really is hard to move on after such unexpected things that happen in life.
Thank God we are never alone, and no one can take away all the precious memories we have with one another. So don’t miss an opportunity to live, love and share with your family, friends and loved ones. Life is short. And most of all, remember keep your heart right. Eternity is forever.
My wife’s mother has fallen ill and we are now caring for her 24/7 in addition to pastoral duties for two churches and work. We appreciate your prayers as we navigate through these extremely busy times. I am finally in the process of returning to work after having long COVID. We thank God for his keeping power. We feel highly blessed and favored.
