At the bi-monthly City of Louisville Board of Aldermen meeting, officials heard an update on multiple capital projects. William Sanford of Neel Schaffer was on hand to present the latest on various capital improvements.
One of the most pertinent updates Sanford provided has to do with the joint venture the city has with Louisville Utilities to upgrade the water system in the city. Sanford noted that contracts have been drafted, and one project – the East Lagoon – should begin soon. The project is expected to take at least a year to complete. Another project, this involving the treatment plant, is under contract as well, but will take longer to start as the contractor is looking to bring in equipment to the plant. This equipment will need to be fabricated and brought in before work can begin.
The MDOT TAP project involving sidewalks is also moving along as expected, according to Sanford. Neel Schaffer is nearing completion on design plans for the South Industrial Road project; the company is working with MDOT to complete plans and move forward. Sanford also affirmed that the paving project is still open; the board took action by paying two invoices to Falcon for paving. The contract is slated to remain open so that any spot repairs or drainage improvements may be made in order to close out the project.
Sanford finished out his update by discussing the North Industrial Connector project near Gladney Drive. The board voted to accept the lowest bid to complete the project, and Sanford was to give the company a notice to proceed. Weather pending, Sanford expects the project to begin within 30 days and be completed within a 60-day period.
