When the City of Louisville’s Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, June 18, city officials heard progress updates on multiple ongoing projects, including Gladney Drive, street paving, the Industrial Road project, the water system, and the Strand Theater. It was also formally announced that the city had heard from MDOT regarding plans to repave Highway 14, which would include Main Street. No start date was provided. Mayor Will Hill noted that he had been in multiple meetings with both Louisville Utilities and engineers to improve the city’s water system, including filtration. “There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work going on.” The board authorized the annual Carl Jackson fundraising event, which they anticipate will be back on schedule after the event was cancelled in 2023. Hill updated the board on a grant received to further the work on the Strand Theater, and he added that a Congressional request for funding has been put in. There is no timeline on when the city will hear from this request. The Louisville Police Department saw many personnel changes in the last month, which required board approval. Two officers were removed from the part-time employment list; three officers were re-classified from part-time to full-time status. The PD also promoted three officers.
