The Choctaw County School Board has approved its 2025 fiscal year budget. The board met on Wednesday, June 19 at Central Office to approve the budget. The fiscal 2025 year, the board has approved to budget $24,552,346.53 of that 48.76 percent or $11,970,898.94 is local, 36.53 percent of $8,969,260.87 is state, 12.97 percent or $3,183,289.02 is federal and 1.75 percent or $428,897.70 is 16th Section. The total expenditure budget is actually more than the budget the district approved to operate under. According to a slide provided by Superintendent Glen Beard, the total expenditure budget is $27,551,811.72 and $4,677,485.82 of that is for capital projects. Majority of that is closing out projects the district has had in the works for several years. This year, will the the Charger Athletic Complex – Charger Stadium, a new corridor at Ackerman Elementary, and two ESSER fund projects that have been in the works. In major expenditures the biggest part goes to salaries and the overhead functions of the district for central office and all five campuses. This also includes being able to provide supplies for the three elementary schools in the district. The budget will also include the purchase of two new buses, approved in their monthly board meeting, and will include three projects: fencing for the Charger Athletic Complex.
