The 2018 Choctaw County Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 8th at 6 p.m. in downtown Ackerman.
Parade Day will start with sales at participating businesses with chances to enter to win two gift baskets. You must make a purchase at the participating business to enter the drawing. Each gift basket has an estimated value of $435 and is full of gift certificates from local businesses and goodies.
3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Silent Auction – The Silent Auction will be at Ackerman Town Hall. Proceeds go to the Nursing Home Auxiliary. Items at the Silent Auction are handmade crafts and goodies with at least a $25 value. The Silent Auction will also be open on Friday, December 7th from 3-5 p.m. Contact Patty Draper if you would like to donate or for more information.
Santa’s Workshop – Santa’s Workshop will be at Pap’s Place. Parents bring your children to experience Santa’s Workshop and see Santa Claus himself. Santa’s Workshop will feature six craft stations and a chance to meet Santa and take your photo with him. It costs $1 per child to enter the Santa’s Workshop. This will be open from 3-5 p.m. and immediately following the parade.
Food Vendors - Three local churches will be selling hamburgers and chips, chili and crackers and desserts as fundraisers. The Chamber of Commerce will be selling drinks as a fundraiser for next year’s Parade fund. These vendors will be set up in the Depot Parking Lot beginning at 3pm. The Mississippi Lignite Mining Company will be giving away free hot chocolate in the old fire station on Main Street.
3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Entertainment – Local groups and individuals will perform Christmas carols and some of your favorite holiday songs at the Pavilion.
5 p.m.
Gingerbread House Contest – Bring your gingerbread house already decorated to the Depot Parking Lot at 5 p.m. to be in the contest. There is no entry free and the contest is open to all ages. Forms and details are at Ackerman Town Hall and the Chamber of Commerce office.
6 p.m.
Choctaw County Christmas Parade will be the grand finale of the day. Come out and enjoy floats, decorated vehicles and more! Contact the Chamber if you would like to participate in the Parade.
