First quarter woes hurt the Choctaw County boys basketball team at the Leake Central Tournament.
After the first quarter, the Chargers trailed Leake Central 18-4, Choctaw Central 27-12 and McAdams 20-6. Choctaw County lost each game — 58-37 against Leake Central, 76-38 against Choctaw Central and 62-45 against McAdams.
Coach Gary Beals said rebounding has been a problem for the Chargers, allowing opponents too many second chances. “We’re going to work on that in practice.”
Trey Jobe had 7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals; and Jared Bellew 6 rebounds and 6 points against Leake Central. Jelen Wilder had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Leake Central.
Israel Whitmore had 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting and grabbed 6 rebounds against Choctaw Central. He also led the team in scoring with 14 points and rebounds, with nine, against McAdams, Logan Murphy scored 11 point off the bench on 5 of 9 shooting against McAdams.
Querrion Gadson scored 21 point and T’Caivan Bolton 18 for McAdams.
