At the bi-monthly meeting of the City of Louisville Board of Aldermen, held on Tuesday, July 16, city officials learned that many of the ongoing projects to improve Louisville are winding down. Mayor Will Hill notified the board that while there weren’t many action items to consider, but that an update on all projects was in order. The waterworks project in conjunction with Louisville Utilities is “ongoing,” with bidding continuing. The Board authorized the mayor to sign a work order regarding the airport. This was approved unanimously. The paving contract remains open, as previously reported, in order to complete spot repairs and other minor jobs, such as striping. The board did authorize a payment to Falcon Construction in the amount of $179874.76 as a part of the paving project. The mayor also advised the board that he is still waiting to hear about possible Federal funding to help with the preservation and restoration of the historic Louisville landmark. Finally, the mayor noted that it is time to begin advertising to take bid regarding work on Gladney Drive. Alderman Drew Massey asked about the timeframe of work, which is likely to begin after the start of school. Hill relayed that he has been assured that at least one lane of Gladney Drive will be open at all times as the street is a “dead end” one and there is no option for diverting traffic.
