Church revival July 26
The final night of a three-day revival at Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ is at 7 p.m. July 26. The church is located in McBride Quarters, Maben. Speaker is Elder Micheal C. Goins of Shammah COGIC in Tupelo.
Smart Girl’s Summit July 27
Empowered Woman will sponsor a “Smart Girl’s Summit” from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 27 in the conference room of the Webster County Extension Office. The summit is open to girls ages 8-18.
Eupora Methodist Church VBS July 26-28
Eupora Methodist Church is hosting a weekend Vacation Bible School/Kickoff to School from July 26-28. Children ages 3-children entering seventh grade are invited to attend. Times are 5:30-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-noon Sunday. It will conclude with a “Blessings of the Backpacks” and churchwide cookout on Sunday. VBS’s mission is Eupora Elementary School Backpack Buddy donations.
Back-to-School Bash in Eupora July 28
The Sistahood is sponsoring a Back-toSchool Bash on July 28 at Toby Brantley Park on Gifford Street in Eupora. The school supply giveaway starts at 5 p.m. and will continue while supplies last. It will include free food and a jumper.
EES Open House, Meet the Teacher July 29, 30
Eupora Elementary School announces Open House/Meet the Teacher dates for the 2024-25 school year. Open House/Meet the Teacher will be July 29 for kindergarten, second and fourth grades, and July 30 for PreK, first, third and fifth grades, both days from 4:30-6 p.m. Please bring your school supplies at this time.
1960s EHS football game film orders Through Aug. 1
The Eupora High School Alumni Association is taking orders for films of EHS football games from every year in the 1960s that have been transferred to USB jump drives. These USB drives cannot be copied or transferred. If you purchase one, you will also have access to view it via YouTube. A portion of the proceeds will go to fund something for the current EHS football program (yet to be identified). The deadline for ordering is Aug. 1. Webster County Veterans Fair Aug. 10
The Webster County Veterans Fair will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 10 at VFW Post 3806 located at 1575 VFW Road, Eupora. All veterans and spouses are encouraged to attend. These agencies will be present to assist veterans with receiving the benefits they have earned: Veterans Administration: check eligibility/file claims on site, VA Cemetery: check eligibility/register, VA Nursing Home: eligibility/enrollment, VA service officers: to assist with questions, Webster County tax assessor, Regions Bank: veteran loans, Military One Source, Hero’s Path, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, Family Services, 5th Squad, American Legion, Marine Corps League, Whitetails Unlimited and More Free health screenings will be available for all veterans. MACD scholarship applications Through Oct. 3
Webster County Soil and Water Conservation District announces its annual call for applications for six scholarships of $10,000 each to be awarded in January by the Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts. The scholarship awards are open to any college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student pursuing a natural resources field of study. The deadline for submitting applications is Oct. 1. The village of Walthall will host its annual Trade Day Celebration on Oct. 19. Webster County Public Library in Eupora is open four days each week to take care of many of your needs, such as sending and receiving faxes, copying, computer use, as well checking out the latest books for your reading pleasure. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Wednesday and noon- 6 p.m. Thursday. Come by and see Fran or Laura for any of your library questions. The Maben Public Library’s regular hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and noon-4:30 p.m.
