The School Board has approved a recommendation for assistant superintendent of the Webster County School District.
Board members took the action April 11, according to meeting minutes. Superintendent James Mason presented a personnel action form that night recommending Sue Anne Boatman as assistant superintendent in addition to her other positions as federal programs director, curriculum director and professional development director, effective April 12.
Jimmy Hood (District 3) made a motion to approve the recommendation and Eddie Allen (District 1) seconded the motion. The motion was approved 3-0, with Hood, Allen and Gabby Davis (District 5) voting aye, and Rana Tabb Mitchell (District 2) and Marilyn S. Brown (District 4) abstaining.
During an executive session on Dec. 13, then-Superintendent Brian Jones recommended the board hire Boatman as assistant superintendent, effective Jan. 1, with no change to current salary. After some discussion by the board, no action was taken on Jones’ recommendation, minutes reflect.
Also on April 11, Mason presented a recommendation from East Webster Elementary School Principal Jennifer Carver to renew the contract of certified staff Kayla Carpenter for 2022-23. Davis recused herself and the motion was approved 4-0.
Additionally, Mason presented a recommendation from Eupora High School Principal Adam Dillinger to renew the contracts of certified staff Cala Tabb and Dawn Tabb for 2022-23. Mitchell recused herself and the motion was approved 4-0.
Mason also presented an attendance and discipline report for each school for the school year to date.

The School Board also met April 25. Brown, vice president of the board, presided in the absence of Mitchell, board president. Mason informed the board on matters not requiring action.
Dillinger introduced Eupora High School student Cliff Jernigan as the Webster County Board of Education Student of the Month for February. Counselor Kelly Powell introduced WCCTC student Carter Weaver as the Webster County Board of Education Student of the Month for April
