JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Biloxi man has been arrested and is accused of carrying a gun on the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus and attacking an officer.
The 49-year-old suspect was taken into custody Monday at the Jackson medical facility, WLBT-TV reported.
The man resisted arrest when officers made contact with him, then assaulted an officer, authorities said. Police say he was carrying a 9mm handgun.
The man was charged with possession of a weapon after felony conviction, carrying a concealed weapon on school grounds, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The officer was treated at a hospital and later released.
