Several have qualified in the District 3 and District 4 School Board elections.
In the district 3 race, Craig Howard and Patrick Thomas have qualified for the seat. Both Howard and Thomas currently reside in French Camp. The winner would succeed current board member Linda McDaniel, who is not seeking re-election.
In the District 4 race, Incumbent Ommie R. Miller-Ashford, of the Spay/Panhandle community is running for a third term, while Dr. Nola Bryant, of Ackerman, hopes to unseat Ashford.
Locally, voters in District 3 and District 4 will go to the polls to not only elect a new President and Vice President, but who they want to “hire” to be their voice on the board for their children and the community.
District 3 includes East Weir, French Camp, and Simpson. District 4 includes West Weir, Southwest Ackerman, and Panhandle.
Absentee voting in the general election will begin later this month and will continue until the end of October.
