As family and friends put up the leftovers from the family gatherings, itís beginning to look a lot more like Christmas in Choctaw County. Kicking off the Christmas season in the county is the annual Choctaw County Library Christmas Open House. The Friends of the Library will hold its annual Choctaw County Library Open House on Tuesday, December 3 from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to set up a tree for the Festival of Trees. Businesses and organizations can begin setting up trees as soon as possible. Participants will also be able to hear local choirs, meet local authors, take photos with Santa, and sip hot chocolate while voting for their favorite tree. On December 7, the Ackerman Civic League will hold its annual Holiday Market at the Choctaw County Community Center. Attendees can find unique gifts for their loved ones and custom pieces for their own Christmas collections. Also on December 7, the Town of French Camp welcomes you to spend Christmas in French Camp. This is an all day event. There will be free pictures with Santa at Council House and pictures with the Grinch and other Christmas characters at Barlow Blue both from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., horse rides for $4 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., A gingerbread trail, free crafts for the kids, free hot chocolate and cookies, a free bounce house, and a caroling train all through town at French Camp Trading Post from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Double Blessings will have a $5 bag sale and everything half off, SIP Coffee will have 10 percent off its Christmas menu and Sparkles H & M Consignment will have. 30 percent off all day and you can register to win a Christmas basket. On December 8, Enon C u m b e r l a n d Presbyterian Church would like to invite you to our Drive-Thru Living Nativity. The Nativity presentation takes you through the Marketplace of Bethlehem, and as you continue your journey, you will witness the Christmas story. In case of inclement weather, our event will be moved to December 15th. On December 14, After going to Whoville the Town of Weir invites you to experience Christmas in my Hometown. The Town of Weir is currently looking for participants in its annual parade.
