The Winston County Board of Supervisors early planning for an energy saving Courthouse Annex is already awarding dividends.
Winston County and Pryor & Morrow have partnered together to transform the county’s annex building and improve community areas in infrastructure improvements that have helped to reduce energy utility costs and increase operational efficiency of various systems.
Through the partnership with Louisville Electric and TVA’s energy savings improvements, Winston County was eligible for and received $19,359 in TVA’s Energyright solutions energy efficiency utility rebates in cooperation with Louisville Electric Power who provide electrical service to Winston County’s facilities. New energy efficient planning has contributed to a dramatic reduction in energy costs.
“Lights in the annex go off whenever person’s leave the offices. There are motion detectors in it to make the lights go on and off. Windows, everything is supposed to save energy. TVA presented the check for us building and palnning the annex the way we did. There’s no restriction on the money,” said Luke Parkes, Supervisor of District 2 and President of the board.
Supervisors noted that the funds would help the county’s budget and approve adding to the county’s general fund.
