The Eupora Board of Aldermen addressed increased water bills resulting from a broken chiller at Tilsatec during a special-called meeting May 14.
Water is constantly leaking out of the chiller lines on the roof and running down the sides and into the city-owned building on East Roane Avenue, and the roof is leaking in spots, according to discussion at the meeting.
Lara Bowman, director of The Enterprise, told aldermen it will be the end of the year before Tilsatec can get a new heating, venting and air conditioning system in the building.
She previously met with the board to report options available as far as grants for proposed HVAC system work there. While discussing Tilsatec on May 7, the board went into executive session with her to discuss industrial expansion.
After discussion with Bowman and board attorney Jacqueline Meek at last week’s meeting, the board voted to charge Tilsatec “winter flow rates” for any water billed over the winter months (20,000 gallons) and corresponding sewer rates until the chiller is repaired or an expected grant is received, whichever comes first.
The matter of boat dock repairs at Whites Creek Lake was tabled again pending receipt of a second written quote. Aldermen Jerry Gary (at-large), Junior Shaw (Ward 1), Howard Rumore (Ward 2) and Robert Gibbs (Ward 4) were present for the meeting.
