An Ackerman woman died in a two-car crash in Starkville on Wednesday at 12:47 p.m.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Derrick Beckom said Sylvia A. Moreland, 85, of Ackerman, was traveling in a 2017 Toyota RAV4 traveling east on Highway 12 near Longview when she collided head on with a 1987 Chevrolet V20, driven by Leroy Gandy of Starkville.
Moreland was pronounced dead at the scene and Gandy was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
Moreland’s funeral services were held on Friday, September 13 at 2 p.m. at Ackerman Baptist Church. Visitation was held one hour prior to her service. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The crash is still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
