Saturday was chocked full of events for the family to do in the county. Each of the municipalities had an easter event. French Camp held their annual Easter in French Camp, the Ackerman Police Department held Funny Bunny Fun Day and the North Sip Ruff Ryders held an Easter Egg Hunt in Weir at the home of Jacky and Valarie Meaders.
Easter events not your thing, no problem? You could’ve spent a relaxing day at the Choctaw Lake at the annual Kids Fishing Rodeo.
In Ackerman, more than 1,300 people came out for the first ever Funny Bunny Fun Day held by the Ackerman Police Department. A community initiative that began by Ackerman Police Chief Martha Caradine and her husband Eupora Police Chief Lawrence Caradine in Eupora. The Caradines took the fun to Ackerman as well.
Many businesses, churches and nonprofits came out to celebrate the upcoming Easter holiday. There were giveaways, prizes, food, games and more.
There were also winners awarded for the best decorated tent. Enon Cumberland Presbyterian won in the church category for best overall. Choctaw County Farm Bureau won for most creative, Choctaw Regional Medical Center won for best Easter spirit, and Ackerman Baptist Church Youth won for fan favorite.
We had an awesome turnout for Funny Bunny Fun Day. There were over 1,300 people that attended our town event. We want to thank all the business, churches, anonymous donations and everyone that helped to make this event a success. We couldn’t have done this without all your help. Please let’s keep this event going for our community. Thank you all again,” Caradine wrote on the police department’s Facebook page.
