The Eupora High School Beta Club has been busy this year with service projects and preparing for Beta Convention.
We also elected our officers for this year. They are as follows: president, Campbell Vaughn; vice president, Alana Hunter; secretaries, Kimble Dillinger and Kyla Patterson; and reporter, Katelyn Boatman.
For our first service project we donated money to Mrs. Arey and Mrs. Jennifer’s kindergarten class at Eupora Elementary School. This money has allowed every student in this class to get a brand new book every month this school year. The seniors were able to visit the students and read a couple of books to them. The kindergarteners loved it.
The next service project Beta Club participated in was on Halloween. Members dressed up and passed out pencils to all of the students at Eupora Elementary School. So many members of the Beta Club participated in this service project we even had leftover pencils!
We also donated fuzzy socks to Diversicare of Eupora. The residents were very thankful, because who doesn’t love socks? Decorating the doors of the rooms at NMMC-Eupora’s Long Term Care is another tradition that our members enjoy every year. This year we decorated trees, ornaments, Santas and gingerbread men to hang on their doors.
The Beta Club looks forward to going to the nursing home each year, because we get to see, talk and brighten the spirits of the residents. While we were at the nursing home decorating, the residents asked if we could sing a few Christmas songs for them, and of course we couldn’t turn that down!
The highlight of the year is attending Beta Convention on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We always have a great time! Our club loves spending time with one another and going to eat at all of the fun restaurants and of course attending the annual convention.
