Highways & Hedges
Hey parents, my word is for you today. I’m a parent and know the responsibility very well. I’ve said the hardest thing I’ve ever done was being a parent.
But the day we are living in today, it seems that this generation doesn’t think about it much. And when they’re young, just give them a phone, computer and videogames, and keep them out of our hair. And don't forget TV.
Technology is raising our children and grandchildren, then we wonder why they are rebellious. Why they are violent, not respectful, because all the world has to offer them is hate and disrespect. We need to get them back in church where they can be taught the word of God that lets them know right from wrong.
Sometimes it’s hard for parents to discipline their children not to do something when they are doing the same things. You can’t tell them to do as you say and not as I do. They are watching you.
I have been mourning for three days; my heart is hurting. Not my fleshly heart, but my spiritual heart. I’m not talking about a physical hurt, but a spiritual hurt, where all you want to do is weep before God. It’s so hard to think about our children and grandchildren dying, lost and undone, on their way to hell.
Yes people, there is a real place called hell. It wasn’t prepared for us but for the devil and his angels. But because mankind refused to follow Jesus, that is their destination. John 3:3 says, “We must be born again.”
Parents, we have an obligation to raise them right, and if you don’t, you are failing them. Ephesians 6:4 says, “And ye, fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring the up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Nurture means training. So many will say that they have to have their own mind. And they will, but it’s our job to steer them in the right direction.
Maybe you’re saying, “It’s too late.” No, it’s not. As long as they have breath, they still have a chance. And when they won’t listen to you, you can still pray. All things are possible with God.
Parents, how long has it been since you fasted, how long has it been since you fell on your knees and wept before God, asking him to save your family?
