Bishop Jimmie D. Goss was born February 15, 1958 to Ms. Minnie Ree Goss and Charles Hughes. Upon his Mother’s death, he and his siblings were raised by his Uncle Emmitt and Aunt Missie Goss where they lived in Canton, MS.
Bishop Goss confessed his love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. He attended school at Roger High School, Canton, MS. Later moving to Louisville, MS where he lived until later moving to St. Louis. He was self-employed at G. G. Construction. He later moved back home where he became pastor of Paulvine M. B. Church until his death.
On January 4, 2022, Bishop Goss was called home tragically in a house fire. Bishop Goss was a very humorous person and loved to hold conversations with people at the entrance to Walmart. He loved teaching Sunday School to his parishioners. Bishop Goss will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Grandparents, his sisters; Betty Kelly-Lowery, Pearlie Lewis, Linda Hull, Velma Plummer, Ruth and Joann Hughes; his brothers, Rev. Charles Goss, Willie James, Elvis Charles and Lamond Hughes.
Bishop Goss leaves to cherish his loving memories: His sisters, Shirley Goss of Louisville, MS, Marilyn and JoAnne Plummer of Canton, MS, Elizabeth Sykes, Anna Faye Hughes, Dianna Cooper, and Mary Hughes; his brothers the Plummers: Arthur Lee, James, I. J., Gregory, Gig, all of Canton, MS and Eddie Charles Plummer of Gary, IN, Hubert Lee (Rita) Hughes, Jr., Willie Cooper, Amos Hughes, and Dennis Hughes.
He, also, leaves to cherish his loving memories: A very special daughter, Kanisha White-Jones; a special friend Edna Overstreet; his extended family, Ruthie Mae, Valarie, Victoria, Arnold Smith, the entire Smith Family, the Paulvine M. B. Church Family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 10, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at Beck Funeral Home Chapel, Louisville, MS with Pastor George W. Love, officiating. Burial followed at New Zion Cemetery, Louisville, MS. Visitation was held Saturday, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 pm. Pallbearers: Cornelius Goss, Denico Goss, Henry Harvey, DeQuarius Haynes, Chauncey Hudson, Derrick Hughes, Reidalyus Hughes, Arnold Smith and Miko Strickland. Flower bearers were his nieces.
