Mississippi’s labor force increased in November.  This is the latest information announced today by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.

Mississippi’s unemployment rate in November 2019 was 5.6%, a slight over the month increase of one-tenth of a percentage point from October 2019.




Additional Counties Eligible for Public Assistance Funding in Mississippi

JACKSON, MISS. – David Bond, 65, of Wiggins woke up Monday prepared to start his Thanksgiving week like any other. He was going deer hunting.

“I wasn’t going to go hunting at first,” he said. “I went to town for supplies at the Jr Food Mart in Wiggins and bought five tickets, all Triple 7s. Then, I went hunting.”

Goodbye luncheon

On June 23, after worship, Mathiston United Methodist Church wished Godspeed to the Rev. Dr. Prentiss Gordon Jr. and his wife, Sandra, with lunch. It was a bittersweet lunch because it has been a pleasure getting to know them the past two years. Parishioners said farewell and wished them much happiness on their life journey.
