Mrs. Maloy Hubbard Gary, 94, died March 28, 2020 at Brooklyn Hall Personal Care Home in Mathiston, MS. A Private Immediate Family Only Graveside Service was held 4:00PM Monday March 30, 2020 at Webster Memorial Garden Cemetery in Webster County. Bro. Chris Ray officiated.

Ernest D. Oswalt


Ernest D. Oswalt passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020, at his residence, in Ackerman, MS.  He was 74 years old.  Mr. Oswalt was born in Choctaw County, MS, December 30, 1945, to Eubruh and Ida Mae(Sanders) Oswalt.  He was retired from MSU and worked part-time as a truck driver for Choctaw County.

Choctaw County registers 1 death from COVID-19


The Mississippi State Department of Health has reported the first death from the novel (new) coronavirus COVID-19 in Choctaw County.

MSDH said a Choctaw resident died with 59 deaths in the state as of  April 6 at 6 p.m. with the April 7 reporting at 11 a.m.

Choctaw County had 9 identified cases in the county on Monday.
