Political speaking, free food and more will fill the Choctaw County Courthouse lawn on Saturday, June 29 at 9 a.m.
Everyone is invited to the free Old-Fashioned Stump Rally. Local candidates have lined up to speak about why they are running for office and why you should vote for them.
Candidates slated to speak are:
Chancery Clerk – Kenny King, Steve Montgomery (Incumbent)
Circuit Clerk – Amy Burdine (Incumbent)
Constable Post 1 – Justin Gates, Thomas Raybourn (Incumbent)
Constable Post 2 – Chris Coleman (Incumbent)
Justice Court Judge Post 2 – Jan Hutchinson, Teresa Weeks (Incumbent)
Sheriff – Brandon Busby, Doug McHan
Supervisor District 1 – Warren Miles, Joey Stephenson (Incumbent)
Supervisor District 2 – Robin Woods
Supervisor District 3 – Chris McIntire (Incumbent)
Supervisor District 4 – Tony Kimbrough, John Shumaker (Incumbent), Ryan H. Vowell
Supervisor District 5 – Eric Chambers (Incumbent), Charlie B. Edwards, Bill Peden
Tax Assessor/ Collector – Lori Kerr (Incumbent)

Everyone that attends the Old-Fashioned Stump Rally will be some of the first to see and use the new voting machines that print a paper ballot by demand. VotingWorks will be on hand to demonstrate these voting machines and conduct a mock election. Choctaw County is the first county in the state to pilot the VotingWorks voting system.
Everyone in attendance will have a chance to vote in a mock election of surprise make-believe candidates to demonstrate the voting machine device. The mock winner will be announced at the end of the Stump Rally.
It wouldn’t be an old-fashioned political rally without food. Free grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available to the crowd at the Old-Fashioned Stump Rally.
