Choctaw County’s unemployment rate decreased one percentage point during November, according to preliminary numbers from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
The county’s jobless rate stood at 2.8% during November, which was the lowest rate here in over 30 years according to MDES data.
This was down from 3.8% in October and the 6.1% rate in October 2020. Choctaw’s rate was ranked number 21 in the state.
The estimated number of unemployed Choctaw Countians in November decreased to 100 from 150 in October.
November jobless rates in nearby counties: Calhoun, 2.7%; Chickasaw, 3.5%; Clay, 4.2%; Grenada, 2.6%; Montgomery, 3.5%; and Oktibbeha, 2.8%.
Mississippi’s unemployment rate for November was 3.0% and the national jobless rate was 3.9%, both not seasonally adjusted yet.
