The Grace Christian volleyball team suffered two losses to quality opponents last week. A comeback against Heritage Academy fell short in a 3-2 defeat and the Lady Eagles were beaten by Starkville 3-0.
The Grace Christian volleyball team won two matches and lost one last week. The Lady Eagles were beaten by a strong Choctaw County team 25-20, 25-20, 25-14, but rebounded a day later to with a hard fought victory over Amory Christian 25-23, 25-19, and an easy win over and Mt. Zion Christian of Magee 25-9, 25-8.
The Sanderson Farms Championship, Mississippi's PGA event, will be held Thursday through Sunday next week (September 19-22) at the Country Club of Jackson with a field that includes five winners of Grand Slam tournaments.
The Grace Christian School volleyball team had three straight set victories last week, outscoring opponents 225-92. The Lady Eagles defeated Louisville 25-5, 25-10, 25-14; Winston Academy 25-12, 25-13, 25-11; and Noxapater 25-13, 25-5, 25-9.
“We had a good week,” said coach Jamey Willers.
Change is coming to the Mississippi High School Activities Association basketball playoffs – again.
The Grace Christian volleyball team opened the season with a victory over Nanih Waiya, then finished third out of 12 teams at a tournament.
The Lady Eagles swept Nanih Waiya 25-13, 25-15, 25-11.
“Nanih Waiya was our first game. We were a little nervous,” said coach Jamey Willers. “We were trying to figure out our lineup.”
PEARL – Three former Winston Academy coaches – Les Triplett, Barry Gray and David Blount – were among six men inducted into the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Coaches' Association Hall of Fame Saturday in ceremonies at the Rankin County campus of Hinds Community College.
