Choctaw County senior Landon Wells has signed to play baseball at Holmes Community College.
Choctaw County football coach Jeff Roberts was planning to use spring practice for development of some of his younger players who will need to replace graduating seniors, but he doesn't consider cancellation of practice to be a major loss.
With the spring sports season for Mississippi high schools in limbo, many coaches are playing the
“what if” game. That includes French Camp Academy softball coach Todd Chesser.
Mississippi High School Activities Association executive director Don Hinton succinctly summed up the state of high school athletics in Mississippi in a handful of words – “It's all up in the air.”

At this time, there are no plans for changes in the athletic program at French Camp Academy, said principal and athletic director Rusty McKnight. In addition to the four spring sports, French Camp fields teams in football, boys and girls cross country and boys and girls basketball.

“They were looking at me and I really liked the school,” he said. “It's a good school.”
To say that Mississippi high school athletics is in a state of flux would be an understatement. The only certainty at this point is uncertainty.
For Choctaw County athletics, it's not this week and not next week. After that, who knows?
The Mississippi High School Activities Association has suspended all athletics and activities for two weeks due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has hit the state. If there will be a resumption when the two weeks end is unresolved.
